Devil Fruits
A fruit can turn a weakling into a powerful fighter, at the price of the sea. Not every fruit is equally strong, and how well a fruit does depends on who eats it.
The rules
- One of each per world. Only one player can have a given fruit at a time. It comes back into the world when its user loses it.
- Names are hidden. Every fruit is called Unknown Devil Fruit, looking exactly like its lore appearance. Once you have eaten a kind, you see its real name forever.
- Fruits stay in your inventory. They cannot be dropped, put in a chest or stored anywhere.
- Fruits rot. An uneaten fruit turns into a Rotten Fruit one real week after it was first found. The clock never resets.
- Eating one is disgusting: nausea, a sting and a reaction. You can never eat a second.
- Death. If you die carrying uneaten fruits, one of them drops. Each death also has a 50% chance to take the fruit you ate. Your Mastery with it is never lost: get the same fruit back and you pick up where you left off.
- Four abilities and a passive. Press R to switch to the fruit bar. Its four abilities sit on Z X C V, the last one its ultimate, unlocked by fruit Mastery. Every fruit also has one passive from the lore and small everyday uses.
- SPEC points open the first time you eat a fruit and raise fruit damage. They stay yours if you lose it.
The sea and seastone
- Deep water (waist under the surface) is the danger. Shallow water, rain and boats are safe.
- In deep water a fruit user cannot swim and sinks about a block a second. Stamina drains fast and does not come back; fruit abilities and the passive switch off, and other abilities cost more.
- At zero stamina you cannot move, attack or cast, and you drown when your air runs out. A friend who is not a fruit user can swim to you and carry you to shore.
- Fish-Men and Merfolk who eat a fruit still breathe underwater, so they can walk slowly along the sea floor to the shore.
- Seastone weakens a fruit user who stands on it: fruit off, slower stamina, slower feet. A hit from the Marines' Seastone Jitte turns a fruit off for 3 seconds and even lands on a Logia.
Logia and Zoan
Logia: real intangibility
Physical hits pass straight through a Logia user in a burst of their element. What still lands: seastone, any hit while the user is in deep water or soaked by a water attack, damage that is not a blow (falls, drowning, hunger) and Haki-coated attacks. Each element also has what beats it: for fire, that is lava.
Zoan: three forms
Press H to cycle human, full beast and (once the ultimate is unlocked) hybrid. The fruit bar works only when transformed: the beast casts Z X C, the hybrid all four, more strongly. A beast cannot hold weapons, and its size follows your race.
Bara Bara no Mi Paramecia
A tricky, evasive fighter whose body comes apart.
- Passive: slashing damage (swords, blades, axes) splits the body where it is cut and does nothing. Blunt and piercing blows land as normal.
- Everyday use: Floating Hand, a hand that flies up to 8 blocks to pick up an item, press a button or pull a lever.
- With a blade in hand, the flying arm carries that blade and the spinning legs have blades in the shoes.
Mera Mera no Mi Logia
An area-and-burn fighter who is hard to touch.
- Passive: intangibility as fire. Immune to fire and burning; lava still hurts.
- Burning: its moves set targets alight with the fruit's own fire.
- Everyday use: lights furnaces, campfires, candles, TNT and portals with an empty hand.
Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Bison Zoan
A fast, charging Speed type, as Dalton fights in the series. The beast is built for charges over land; the hybrid is a horned, hoofed fighter.
Fruit elites
Some rare enemies fight with a fruit's power without owning it, so they never drop one. They read Devil Fruit Elite under their name, appear 2,000 blocks or more from spawn, and pay well.
| Elite | Fruit | Level | How it fights |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flame Corsair (pirate) | Mera Mera no Mi | 11 | Higan, Hiken and Hotarubi, with two Pirate Swordsmen. Bring water or seastone. |
| Bison Raider (bandit) | Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Bison | 11 | Charges in beast form with two Mountain Bandits |
